Holy Trinity Church
Holy Trinity Brook Green has several vestments dating from at least the mid-19th Century which show the art of ecclesiastical embroidery at its finest. They were probably made in Belgium or France, and are heavy with gold and silver thread.
We thank the National Lottery
and the Heritage Lottery Fund for a grant to restore these vestments. They will
be used for Mass on special occasions, and will also be on display to the school
groups who visit the church. We give pictures of two of them below.

The Trinity Chasuble (below) shows the Father supporting the Son on the cross, while the Holy Spirit hovers between them. |
The Corpus Christi Chasuble (below) shows the life blood of Christ becoming through the symbolic grapevine the source of the Eucharist, as it pours into the chalice at the bottom, while Christ is surrounded by a grapevine motif. The Latin words around say ‘I am the true vine’, a quotation from John 15.1. |
